Welcome

Alison and family look forward to extending you a very warm welcome. We pride ourselves on our excellent service and guest accommodation, with beautifully furnished en-suite rooms, including 2 detached ground floor rooms. A varied breakfast menu is available, and we use high quality local produce wherever possible.

Staying with us in Dorchester means you are ideally situated for exploring Hardy’s beautiful Dorset countryside and the dramatic World Heritage Coast. At Bramlies you will also find yourself right on the edge of HRH Prince Charles’ development of Poundbury, with its unusual architecture and individual shops.

There is off road parking for cars as well as hardstanding parking suitable for motorcycles.

We have a lovely decked area in the garden where you are welcome to relax with a tea, coffee, or a glass of wine after your day out. We are able to provide packed lunches on request and we offer free WIFI.

In our aim to become carbon neutral, we have 24 solar panels on the roof of the garden annex and a large battery to store solar power from the day for your use over night.

We are a non-smoking house, although smoking is permitted in the garden.

Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate pets.

Where are we?

We are situated 10-15 minutes walk from the shops and attractions of Dorchester and are near to Dorset County Hospital (DCH) (less than 5 minutes walk) and the Dorset History Centre, formerly the Dorset County Records office (7 minutes walk). The nearest pub/restaurant is The Poet Laureate on Poundbury which is a 5-10 minute walk away. There are numerous other restaurants and pubs in the town centre. We are just a 30 minute drive (or bus ride) from the beautiful coast line where Broadchurch was filmed.

Within 2 minutes walk from Bramlies is the bus stop for the X51 bus which takes you to the Jurassic coast at Bridport, Lyme Regis, and on to Axminster. Buses to Weymouth also stop here – a great way to travel without hassle! Also within walking distance are Dorchester’s 2 railway stations.

Testimonials

Enjoyed it.

An oasis in the suburbs.

CHRISTOPHER

Highly recommend.

The rooms are lovely but best of all is the kindest and attention of the host, she is truly lovely and goes a million miles further than needed. She helped us through a very tough time in the local hospital and made a huge difference to us all.  Can’t speak highly enough of her.

Great host, fantastic location. Will definitely be back

Warm welcome and immediately felt at home. Had our own space to relax in the sunshine and a beautiful breakfast in the morning. Alison was a great host who has done a fantastic job.

MITCHELL

Owner who cares.

I booked a lovely little room with a private bathroom as described in the ad.  Everything was clean and fresh, it is clear that the owner pays a lot of attention to everything to be at the highest level.  And, of course, wonderful homemade breakfasts, cooked for you, like for yourself.

I usually never give the highest score.

SKNILOFF

Great place to stay with an informative and friendly host. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was excellent value for money with a lovely fruit platter to start with.  Lovely jams and marmalade and really good full English to top it all.  A lovely welcome with cake and hot drink.  The room and ensuite was exactly what we needed all on one level.

Relaxed, home away from home.

We loved the property, it was very clean and comfortable, with a sitting room, bedroom and ensuite. Our host, Alison made us feel so welcome, especially with her three course breakfasts! We really enjoyed our chats with her and thank her for all the great advice on places to visit.

If we ever return to the UK, we would have no hesitation in staying again.

Highly recommend Bramlies for anyone visiting Dorchester and the surrounding area

My husband and I stayed at Bramlies B&B for 5 nights during July 2024 and were absolutely delighted with our time spent there ! The accommodation is clean and comfortable, the area is quiet and relaxing and the bed was so comfortable.
